Moving & Arrival Checklist

Moving & Arrival Checklist

A planning timeline to adapt to your contract, possession date and circumstances. These intervals are not legal deadlines.

30–60 days before: establish the plan

Compare moving-company scope, registration where applicable, written estimates and coverage terms. Organize records, utilities, insurance appointments and school or administrative matters if relevant. Confirm possession before making nonrefundable arrangements.

1–2 weeks before: confirm the handoffs

Arrange address changes and service transfers through official channels. Confirm property access, mover reservations, storage needs and building requirements, including elevators, loading areas and move fees.

Closing / move day: verify access

Coordinate the walkthrough, utilities, identification and settlement documents. Confirm when keys and possession transfer under the agreement. Follow building loading and elevator rules. Use the closing guides for independent wire-instruction verification.

After the move: finish administration

Check the applicable DMV for license and vehicle-registration requirements and current deadlines. Review voter or other public-record updates where relevant through official channels. Confirm services, establish a maintenance baseline and complete HOA / condo setup.
